About Jose Arpa:

Jose Arpa’s (1858-1952) works demonstrate the brilliant legacy of a Spanish painter who loved the light and people of Texas and Mexico. An adventurous spirit with a stunning ability to express sunlight on canvas; Arpa was academically trained and already successful in Spain when he came to Mexico in the late 19th century, and then to Texas at the turn of the century.
